Scary Good
I had no idea WHY people supported trump but this information is really providing me a real understanding what we are really up against se move towards the 2024 election. Wonderful truths. Thank you
Thorough and Informative
The hosts of this show are doing a serious labor of love for our country. Every topic is well thought out and well researched. They cover the dangers of white christian nationalism and its history. This is an essential podcast. As a queer person, I’m beyond grateful that there are folks like Bradley and Dan doing this work.
So informative!
Really helped me to understand my religious upbringing, love this podcast
Check this out!
Great information and analysis. Thanks!
Great Podcast
Great consistent reporting on Christian Nationalism
Informative
Brad and Dan really break down the code of the Christian Right and shed light on the true nature of their agenda. I always look forward to listening to them
Critical Listening
I never miss an episode. Onishi and Miller are both ex-vangelicals and scholars of religion. They help us understand white Christian nationalism and the threats it poses to our human and civil rights, and to democracy itself. As someone from family with deep roots in Pentecostalism, I've been watching in horror as this maligned charismatic movement fuses with mainstream evangelicalism and infects government. I know firsthand that it's untethered from facts, science and reality. And that it's simpatico with violence, like on J6, as explained in the must-hear SWAJ series Charismatic Revival Fury. And now it's in the highest levers of power in Congress, at a time when we urgently need leaders rooted in facts and science to tackle environmental crises and more. SWAJ explains the razor's edge moment we face in an easy-to-process and -digest manner, and Onishi and Miller's personal experiences add rich insights. It's required listening.
Amazing insight
One of the best podcasts to learn about how Christian Nationalism and the impact it’s having on all of us. Great, well researched show.
Best pod
One of the most interesting and informative podcasts about the dangers Christian Nationalism poses to American democracy. A must listen for those who are concerned about that movement.
Love
I love this podcast. These guys are so smart and as an atheist it is interesting to hear what religious experts talking about the happenings of the week in such an interesting way.
SWAJ is the only Jesus for me!
Appreciate all the work you do!!!
As a recovering Catholic who grew up in east Texas
I love this pod. This last episode made me really wanna connect with my local Catholic workers, rare but wonderful folks. Great info, currently trying to go back and listen to all the episodes, I enjoy the perspective and relate to the content.
Timely show
This show helps explain so much of the phenomena that we observe today. Much of what I believed faith to be when I was younger has morphed into an authoritarian movement and quest for worldly power at all costs. This is a good starting point for understanding how we got here and what we can do about it. Thanks, Brad and Dan.
Banning gays and vermin
I loved this podcast and this episode thank you so much. So informative thanks Brad!
To the point
Important and clear explanation of what’s going on in religion and politics today
A Must Listen
SWAJ has been a breath of fresh air for me. I found them right after Trump was elected and needed to make sense of how and why this happened. But have stayed because all the conversations about “hot button” topics are so important and spot on.— not to mention, the deconstruction of my faith from growing up within evangelicalism/ fundamentalism has been painful, confusing and isolating at times- but the conversations in this podcast have given me a place to rest, so to speak, and helped me realize where religion, God and spirituality can still remain a part of my identity.
So helpful and informative!
I love this podcast! As a person with friends and loved ones in the evangelical world, I’ve found myself being gradually shut out of their lives simply because of not holding their same world views. One day we were good and then we weren’t. Since Trump came into the picture, I began to notice that not only do they no longer reach out to me, they also don’t respond to my efforts to have contact. It has been sad, hurtful, puzzling, and hard to understand. I’ve found this podcast to be so informative and helpful to better understand the evangelical lens on the world, to learn about the people and leaders and beliefs in this movement, and why and how they do what they do. It sheds a light on things that haven’t made sense to me before and somehow that helps. Thank you, thank you!
EXCELLENT!
Fantastic podcast. Learned about this via QAnon Anonymous Podcast & I’m beyond impressed. Now listening to the back catalogue, so much I’ve wished people would say for the longest time. Telling all my friends.
Amazing!
Onishi and Miller provide a deep dive into the theology of Christian Nationalism and its malign influence inside GOP politics and US international affairs. This neo-fascist movement is wrapped in a flag and carries a cross with deep connections to the Jan 6 insurrection. Don’t miss it!
Intelligent Warnings on the Dangers of Christian Nationalism
Keep sounding the alarm on White Christian Nationalism and impending fascism. Please!!
Helping to understand cruel prejudices
Under the guise of a religion of a God of creation and love, people calling themselves Christian and preaching intolerance and hatred are taking over our civilization. Dan and Brad explain the why, the how, and talking to Uncle Ralph.
This podcast gives me hope
As someone who grew up in a fundamental Christian church and household, this podcast speaks the truth about the damage of religious fundamentalism not only on the psyche of people in the faith, but also how it has creeped into American politics.
You’re correct
Does it feel like religion, specifically Christianity, is trying to take over our country? You are right. This podcast shows how and the words and methods they use. Plus ideas on how to protect our democracy and prevent a theocracy.
Charismatic Revivalist Fury
Mesmerizing and disturbing. Thoroughly researched and documented. Essential to understanding the largest segment of American Christianity (non-denominational) and a theology that demands the end of democracy. Outstanding series!
Most Informative
This is where I learn about the intersection between religion/theology and US politics. I have learned more from this podcast than I could have any other way. I am forever grateful to the hosts.
Intelligent Warnings on the Dangers of Christian Nationalism
I find your discussions very enlightening. Brad’s discussion today of “Parental Rights in Education” provided wonderful messaging that I can use in discussions with Christian parents to reframe their packaging of hate and bigotry into “parental rights.” Thank you so much for this episode.
Rainbow flag
It broke my heart to hear that the mother of 9 got killed because she supported LGBTQIA’s I just can not understand why people can’t mind their own business and let us live in peace 😢
Highly recommend
Well researched and informative. Host is intelligent, genuine, & concerned about the greater good while bringing truthful information to the forefront of major issues facing our country & society as a whole.
One of the best podcasts, bar none
A friend recommended the 5- part series on the New Apostolic Reformation. It’s been a long time since I listened to a podcast that combined nuanced reporting, superb storytelling, provocative questions, and history so seamlessly! I felt like I was in the hands of learned and compassionate professors who know that the point of learning is to foster empathy and change. The production quality is outstanding, so too is the writing. As a non-religious person, it was amazing to find a resource that provided enough context for a lay person without sacrificing depth and nuance.
Good Show, Important Message
As a former Christian, I really appreciate the substance of this podcast. The hosts’ critiques are spot-on as they shine a light on some of the most dangerous and damaging threads within American Christianity. My one critique is I wish the commentary was a bit more focused and quicker-paced. I often find myself having a hard time following the hosts’ conversations. Nevertheless, the show is incredibly valuable — I especially recommend it if you have recently left institutional religious practice or faith altogether.
